eMerge maintains a list of standard variables which it generates internally or retrieves from the header, including the name of each recipient broken down into its component parts--first name, last name, and so on.

You can also define up to ten additional variables. These can contain a single word, a single paragraph, or an entire letter. You can enter these variables manually for each recipient or import them from another database.
